Baltic Birch PlywoodReturn to Baltic Birch Sheet Goods

Baltic Birch plywood is uniquely manufactured with multiple plies of Birch veneer, used uniformly, throughout the panel. Each layer of birch veneer is peeled at 1.3mm or 1.5mm thickness, giving the panel a multi-ply edge that is both aesthetically attractive and offers unmatched strength and stability.

Baltic Birch is not a species of birch, but a general designation of plywood from Russia, Finland, and nearby Baltic states.

Grading is given as the two outer faces of the plywood, in the format of front/back. Baltic birch with a “B/BB” grade would have a B grade front ply, and a BB grade back ply.

Grade B: Generally uniform light and even color, with no plugs, or open cracks/splits. A limited amount of pin knots, and minor color inconsistencies are allowed. Surface is sanded.

Grade BB: Generally uniform light and even color, though color variations/stains are allowed. Limited amount of plugs, cracks/splits, and unlimited amount of pin knots allowed. Open knots and defects in BB face veneers may be cut out and replaced with small oval or round veneer patches before gluing.
